1. SUPERNATURAL POWER: THE DAY OF PENTECOST (2:1-13)
- The Lord Poured Out His Spirit On All The Believers.
- The Spirit Manifested His Presence.
- The Recipients Of The Spirit Were Then Empowered For Witness.
Reflection:
We As Believers Have A New Power For Ministry.
"If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from the church today, 95 percent of what we do would go on and no one would know the difference. If the Holy Spirit had been withdrawn from the New Testament church, 95 percent of what they did would stop, and everybody would know the difference."
- Dr. A. W. Tozer
2. SPIRITUAL PREACHING: PETER STANDS UP & PREACHES THE GOSPEL (2:14-36)
- Jesus Is In Fact The Awaited Messiah Of Israel.
- The Messiah Would Be A Descendant Of David.
- He Would Rise From The Dead, And That He Would Be Exalted To The Right Hand Of God.
Reflection:
There Is Always A Close Connection Between The Activity Of God’s Spirit And The Proclamation Of The Gospel.
95 % of the SUV’s produced never leave the road. They are designed for a purpose for which they are rarely, if ever used. A believer who has experienced that power and is not sharing Jesus is like a 4-wheel drive vehicle that is never taken off the road. They have power for a purpose they are not utilizing.
- Randy Hurst
3. SAVED PEOPLE: A GREAT RESPONSE TO THE MESSAGE (2:37-41)
- The Crowd Became Profoundly Aware Of Their Sinfulness.
- Peter Directly Tells The Crowd To Repent.
- 3000 Jews Received Christ.
Reflection:
The Gospel Calls For Repentance
"the church’s integrity problem is in the misconception that we can add Christ to our lives, but not subtract sin. It is a change in belief without a change in behaviour… It is revival without reformation, without repentance."
- Patrick Morley
4. SUITABLE PURSUITS: THE EARLY CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCE (2:42-47)
- Believers Were Committing Themselves To Learning More About Jesus, Praying, Worshipping And Enjoying A Vibrant Community Life.
- They Were Committed To Proclaiming Jesus As The Messiah.
- Everyday More People Were Confessing Jesus.
Reflection:
Healthy Christians Pay Careful Attention To Learning, Fellowship, Worship And Prayer.
"The key for churches in the 21st Century will be church health, not growth."
- Rick Warren
Unless the eye catch fire, God will not be seen.
Unless the ear catch fire, God will not be heard.
Unless the tongue catch fire, God will not be named.
Unless the Heart catch fire, God will not be loved.
Unless the mind catch fire, God will not be known.
- William Blake
